investigation

A co-worker was fired Friday while I was on vacation. Hum. I wasn't very close to him, but my curiosity got me to ask around.

Definitely politics more than anything. Am uncomfortable that a senior manager at a sister company wants me to help. They were friends. Why get involved when it is the will of the board/management to fire someone? Maybe this is meant to be?

What was incredulous was that the senior manager wasn't willing to stick her neck out but asked me to talk to the board! I started to investigate and realized that the person simply didn't meet the standard of his supervisor.

Welcome to the corporate world.

1. I said what I needed to say, or more, to Mrs. owner the night the person was fired. I don't know why you said I didn't stick my neck out. You should know better that I'm never the type of person... Like now... I always said what I feel I should say.

2. I was shocked to hear a different "reason" on the firing from you the day we met. You said the "reason" involved "your department" but you were not consulted. Since this "reason" was hearsay to me, I couldn't confront the Board with it. Hence I encourage you to speak to the Board if you felt you could gather evidence to show to Mrs. Owner and/or Mr. Chairman the firing was for the wrong reason.

3. All in all, I didn't force you. I only encouraged you as I feel that people needs to obey their consciousness. If you felt justification was not served, by all means, stick out for the mistreated. Then again, it's only my point of view and you have your own will. If you didn't want to, and it's meant to be, let it be. Why accuse me for not sticking out for him? How would you know that I did not? Mind you that truth is often beyond the surface.
